Plant Plan
A lot of careful planning goes into designing a planting plan, and we can help you with yours, big or small. We have quite a few years under our belt of doing site specific plans & designs. We have created plans for riparian zones, for natural or reconstructed wetlands, native sanctuaries, dune restoration, for native garden design and for native and mixed species forestry.
Site Visit
A good planting plan usually involves a visit, so we can share ideas, visions and discuss the basics, while getting an idea of the terrain, soil & climate of the suggested planting site.
In addition we can provide you with an in-depth written plan on what you can do for site prep, how best to deal with invasive weeds, selecting species for your region, how and when to order your plants, suggested density for planting and when best to plant. All to achieve a successful restoration.
We can help you put into place maintenance and monitoring of your plants. Plants need some extra care while they are young, but once they take off you can just stand back and admire, knowing you have left a positive legacy for all to enjoy.
Natural Regeneration
Wherever you plan to plant, we will always look at the options for natural regeneration, which will be a lot cheaper and easier than planting from scratch. This is not us talking ourselves out of a job, we do love to grow plants! We are aware though, that planting thousands of little trees requires a huge commitment of time and resources.
Therefore we look for ways to enhance and protect existing remnants of trees first, by interplanting or creating tree corridors. Additionally we aim to assist our native birds with seed dispersal. After all, birds have been doing this for much longer than us. Their digestive system works much better than our propagating systems and they can disperse those seeds a lot further than we can plant. In short, mother nature can do it better than us, but with a combination of interplanting and natural restoration we can achieve the best possible outcome.
