Our story

The Native nursery started by Meret Weiss 18 years ago as a  backyard family run nursery to help boost various volunteer conservation projects, as the kids grew up the nursery grew a few acres bigger. Now the locally sourced seed gets propagated in a converted dairy shed.

Meret has a healthy addiction to native plants and  a degree in horticulture and diploma in nursery production.

As a native plant nursery we are passionate about growing a wide-range of native plants.

Our wholesale plants can be contract grown for reforestation, wetlands and stream sides, to restore and enhance our native ecosystems.

We can offer our expertise on how  to plant them whether for your rural property, garden or  urban setting and what they can be used for in our unique environment.

Another focus of the nursery is to find and grow rare and endangered plants which can be found particularly around Mohua, Golden Bay.
